What to Expect

Your Initial Visit

The purpose of your initial consultation appointment is to allow you to meet with Dr. Tremblay to talk about your reasons for exploring orthodontic treatment. After discussing your concerns, Dr. Tremblay will perform a clinical examination and report his findings back to you. At this time, a treatment plan will likely be recommended if it is felt that treatment can be beneficial. Any questions that you may have about any identified problems will be addressed by Dr. Tremblay. He will talk with you about timing, treatment alternatives, and his reccomendation for your next step toward treatment, if needed. We feel that it's important for our patients to be fully educated about their options and our proposed treatment. It is only then that they can be comfortable making an informed decision about how they wish to proceed. It may also be the case that treatment may not be suggested right away for reasons of tooth development, growth, or the need for other dental work prior to beginning.

Diagnostic Records

If treatment is suggested by Dr. Tremblay, it is generally not possible to provide a detailed treatment plan based on the initial visit. The clinical examination that is performed at this appointment, although thorough, does not provide sufficient information in order to finalize treatment details. Some problems may not be evident from this type of examination. Dr. Tremblay will see you at our Qualicum Beach office to take a full set of diagnostic records. These include plaster models of the teeth, jaw x-rays and digital photos. It is only after a complete analysis of these records has been performed that an individualized treatment plan can be finalized by Dr. Tremblay.

Cost of Treatment

Dr. Tremblay understands the financial concerns of his patients and their families.  At the initial visit he will generally determine an estimate of the cost of treatment, prior to moving forward with orthodontic treatment. This fee is individualized, and is dependent upon the complexity of the patient's case. There are occasionally several options that need to be considered to treat a single problem. Our office will work with you to determine a payment plan, and we will discuss fees and payment options before treatment begins.  If you do have dental insurance, a pre-determination form will be completed for you and submitted to your insurance company at the initial visit so that you may determine what coverage you have.

During your Orthodontic Treatment

We want our patients and their families to feel comfortable during all phases of treatment.  Dr. Tremblay and our staff look forward to working with you and answering any questions that you might have along the way.
